Hello Acadia Students!
This is intended for those interested in volunteering for the 7th annual Hannah Miller Memorial Hockey Tournament that will take place on Sunday, March 11. Hannah was a seven-year-old girl whose life was tragically taken in a car accident, in 2005. She had just completed her first hockey season and loved the sport. This tournament is held every year in memory of Hannah for children in IP1 and IP2 divisions (children ages 6-9).
The volunteer positions are as follows:
- Team leaders: Leaders are with one team for the day! Their job is to take the teams from event to event.
- Registration table: Sign in teams, collect tournament fees, and answer any questions.
- Referees: Volunteers must be from the male or female Acadia hockey team. Their main responsibility is to watch the children and ensure they are playing safe.
- Clock operator: Responsible for timing each game.
- Auction room (silent and Chinese auctions): Collect money and watch over the items up for bid.
- Hospitality room: Welcome guests and replenish food
- Games room: Chaperone children to make sure they are playing safe.
- Ticket sellers: Promote 50/50 draw, chuck a puck, and collect money from buyers.
- Dressing room tours (Volunteers must be from the Acadia Axemen Hockey team): Show children the Axemen dressing room
