Elected Positions 2023/24 - Descriptions & Duties
Councillors and Senators
Several other SRC Councillors are elected during the General Election season. These students do not work through the summer or hold weekly office hours through the academic year but are expected to represent the voice of their constituency at meetings. Typically, Councillors are expected to attend 1-3 meetings each month, which include committee meetings and meetings of Council. Additionally, they are expected to sit on and attend several SRC and University committees throughout the academic year.
Arts, Science and Professional Studies Senators
Senators must belong to the faculty they are representing. (I.e., a science senator must be a science student). The undergraduate academic senators represent the students within their faculty (Professional Studies, Arts or Science) to SRC as well as to Acadia University’s Senate (comprised of faculty, students and administration). They consult with students within their departments to gain an understanding of the concerns or challenges facing students, and to present this information to SRC and Senate to ensure that student voices are heard at all decision-making tables. Student Senators also sit on the Academic Affairs Committee, chaired by the VP Academic.
