  ASU Elections

Each year, the Acadia Students' Union (ASU) runs a General Election and a Fall By-Election for positions on the Students' Representative Council (SRC).

This Fall 2022, The ASU shall hold a By-Election for the following positions:

Executive Positions

  • Vice President Academic & External


  • First Year Representative

  • Sustainability Representative

  • Community Relations Representative

Election Timeline

  • The Election period will begin on October 11, 2022 and end on October 27, 2022.

  • There will be a nomination period of 7 days. Nominations will open on October 11, 2022 and close on October 17, 2022 at 6:00pm.

  • Mandatory training for candidates and official agents will occur at an all candidates meeting on October 18, 2022. All candidates must attend the mandatory training session or arrange for a reasonable alternative training session at the discretion of the CRO.

  • The campaign period will begin on October 19, 2022 at 8:00am, and end on October 25, 2022 at 11:59pm.

  • The voting period will at 8:00am on October 26, 2022 and end at 8:00pm on October 27, 2022.

ASU Fall 2022 By-Election


  • Only Ordinary or Associate Members of the ASU are eligible to be nominated and seek candidacy in the Election. Ordinary and Associate Members are registered students at Acadia University who have paid their membership fee (student fees) to the ASU.

  • Candidates for First Year Representative must be a student in their first year of studies at Acadia University at the time of nomination.

  • Candidates for Faculty Senator must be a registered student in their respective faculties at the time of nomination.

  • All candidates must possess a sessional GPA of at least 2.0 at the time of the Election and this requirement shall be confirmed by the CRO within 72 hours of the close of nominations. This requirement is waived for all students in the first semester of their first year of post-secondary study at Acadia University.

This Election will be organized and managed by the Chief Returning Officer (CRO) and the Deputy Chief Returning Officer (DCRO), jointly referred to as the “Election Team”. They shall be responsible for the organization and execution of the Election in accordance with these terms and the governing documents of the ASU, which include but are not limited to its by-laws, policies, and regulations.
